YOU WANT TO GET A JOB, DON’T WORRY HERE’S NANNY’S TIP OF DAY
When someone is in the ‘rat race’ for a job, the prime thing that gets your seat reserved is a RESUME. It is the key job hunting tool for securing an interview.
A good resume summarizes your accomplishments, your qualification, your work experience, and is a reflection of your strengths.
Many people are kicked out of chance to get their compatible job not because they lack the required skills, but because of their inability to express their true self through a resume as they DON’T know what to include in a perfect resume.
An outstanding resume has got some merits that only a few intelligent minds know.
- NEAT AND TIDY APPEARANCE
As the proverb says “First impression is the best impression”, your resume should be well organized with consistent headings, fonts, bullets and style.
- MAKE IT SHORT AND TO THE POINT
Avoid exaggeration of the details given in the resume. Instead keep it short and sharp. Maximum no. of pages in a resume should be constrained to one or two. Always remember, “A resume should have words like a handful of gems and not like a heap of pebbles”.
- ALWAYS SOUND POSITIVE
A resume is what that should speak for you in front of a potential employer, so make sure you add words that truly shows your confidence and that you are able to meet the expectation of the one who offer the job. It should tell the employer that you are ear-marked for that job.
- USE PAST TENSE AND ACTION VERBS
Use past tense action verbs to describe what you did. Ex: Utilized excellent customer service skills to diffuse displeased clients.
- ACCOMPLISHMENT STATEMENTS
Focus on what you have achieved in the positions you held, NOT the duties and responsibilities.
- INCLUDE ALL THE LANGUAGES YOU KNOW
All employers are fond of applicants who are polyglots, so use this to your advantage to stand ahead of all others.
- ADD WORK EXPERIENCE
Always recite the hands on work experience that you had in the field. Don’t worry if you have none, instead add the activities that you did with passion that are relevant this job you seek. It’s enough to please the hirer and to get into the shortlist.
As it is said that “well begun is half done”, if you are ready to master this way of constructing a resume you stand a fair chance of getting your dream job
